What is a Mother?

What is a Mother?

Mothers look different from other women. Their hair isn't always done in the latest style, and sometimes, it isn't done at all.

A mother is a woman who can bake a cake with six other hands helping her and still have it turn out fine.

A mother's shoulders sometimes smells of sour milk, and if you are very observant, you'll notice safety pin holes in her clothes -- even her Sunday best.

Mother's frequently have runs in their stockings, likely as not, Junior didn't park his trike off the sidewalk.

A mother is different. She likes chicken wings and backs and the hamburger that is slightly burned -- things the kids and Daddy don't care for. She never takes the last chop on the plate, and she always saves the candy from the tray at the club to bring home to the children.

A mother may not have ulcers, but she has versatile tears. They show anger, weariness, hurt or happiness. Once, when Daddy forgot an anniversary, Mother cried. One Saturday, he brought home some chocolates when it wasn't even her birthday or anything, and she cried then, too.

A mother is someone who can repair the kitchen sink with only her hands -- after Daddy spent alot of time trying with tools and plenty of cuss words.

When a mother dies, she must face Him with her record of accomplishments. If she's done a good job of caring for her children, she'll get the most sought-after position in heaven, that of rocking baby angels on soft white clouds and wiping their celestial tears with the corner of her apron.

My favorite Mother's day gift

Several years ago when I found out that I was pregnant with Tyster I received my very first Mother's Day card and it was written from Tyster by his daddy. Very sweet and I loved it!

3 Years ago I received a silver photo album with my children's photos already inserted into the pages and their names engraved on the front.

Another favorite of mine was Tyster made me a shelf with his own two lil hands when he was only about 5 years old, he took a black marker and wrote a note to me on it, telling me he was so blessed to have me as his mom. Made me realize once again how blessed I really am.

Hopefully I have many more Mother's Day's to take place and the most cherished gifts will always be those either handmade or from the heart. I could be given something my children had made for me or a $500.00 piece of jewelry and I would cherish the handmade item much more.

What has been your favorite gift so far, or what gift would you really like to receive?

Today God opened a new door

We had been praying for a new home, one that would be “perfect” for the children. I had emailed someone last week regarding a particular house and she told me to contact the real estate agency. I hadn’t contacted them however the owner emailed last night and said she had fired the agency and was showing the house today. Everyone we have talked to re: a house they frown upon the number of children we have so I asked the owner if children was going to be a problem and she replied with “children aren’t a problem only a joy”, perfect, we had found the house and the perfect owners. Finally someone who didn’t turn their noses up at the number of children that we have and as if children are a bad thing. We are told often “are you done yet”, “don’t you think that’s enough” etc, etc, I always wonder why people think that a lot of children is a negative thing??? UMMM So, We move in on May 1st!!!!! We have to make a few repairs, and purchase a few things for the home but we are all very excited. I welcome you to share with us in our new journey in our new home and to see just what God has in store for us and what doors He will open for us next.
I invite you to share with us what God has done for you in  your life.

What Praise reports do you have this week?
